Saddest Day Ever

On Tuesday while we were baking cookies Saylor crawled on over and decided to stand herself up onto the oven. She stuck both hands onto the hot glass. She didn't cry immediately so at first we didn't even know anything was wrong but when we checked her hands they had already completely blistered up. Most ovens have a special kind of glass on the outside that doesn't get very hot but we have a really really old oven and we had no idea how hot it could get:( We had to wait for an hour before we could get in to see the doctor (it was after hours) and it was the most miserable hour for Saylor, me and Tyler that we could ever imagine. Saylor screamed in pain as we tried to comfort her but there wasn't much we could do except to put her hands in cold water. I thought I had experienced pain before but nothing is worse than watching your baby in such horrible pain and not being able to do anything about it. When we finally got in to see the doctor they had to scrape all the dead skin off of her little hands. Luckily after they put burn cream on them and bandaged them up Saylor wasn't in as much pain and she finally calmed down. The saddest part now is that Saylor can't crawl, eat by herself, pick up toys to play or hardly do anything. My busy, hyper little baby now can hardly move without the use of her hands. Saylor was much happier after we got back from the doctor

Saylor has been handling it so well. We have to take her into the doctor each day to have her bandages changed. The doctor said she has 2nd degree burns but they should heal completely. The next couple of weeks are going to be really hard but we are grateful for all the prayers of our family and friends and that Saylor is going to be alright.

Oh that is so sad! One of my nephews did the same thing when he was probably close to the same age. It is definitely much harder to see your child in pain than be in pain your self!

Oh poor thing! I'm glad that everything is ok, and it looks like she is feeling better.

Poor thing! :( I hope she gets better soon! Saylor is a doll! She has so much hair! So cute! Even with her little bandaged hands :)
