I'm actually posting about Easter a day after it happened instead of a month! Woah, that's a big improvement for me. But before we get to Easter...here are a few other blog worthy activities we've been doing.
Last weekend Ty was in charge of a basketball tournament called the Rotator Cuff. Ty loves basketball with his whole heart. He really looks forward to this tournament all year long. He has been talking about teams and who he was going to play with for months. I am not a great sports photographer but here are a few pics to document the tournament.
Ty got to play with Ernie and Marshall, two of his really good friends. They had a killer team and almost won the whole tournament! They ended up getting 2nd which is still amazing! A team from Arizona barely beat them but they are still the best basketball players in Kirksville! haha
Ty told me once that it was his dream in life for his wife and kids to come watch him play sports. We try to make his dreams come true and support him as much as we can! We spent all Friday and Saturday over at the TCC cheering him on. It was so much fun.
This past week was 3rd year testing for the students at Ty's school. A lot of our friends that have moved away came back and it was so fun to see everyone! Saylor got to play with Brynlee, who was one of her very best friends last year. It was like they had never been apart and they played and played. It was so cute to see them together again! I didn't get a picture but she also got to play with her buddy Andrew that she loves dearly.
The weather here in Kirksville is FINALLY starting to warm up! On Friday we headed to the park with lots of friends to basque in the sunshine. It felt SO amazing! You forget how much being outside is good for the soul. And quick story about the park because I don't want to forget...Saylor had to go potty and the bathrooms were locked. I took her behind the bathrooms so no one could see and told her that we only go potty on the ground if there are no bathrooms and that is our only choice. As we were leaving the park I was putting Oaks in her car seat and I turned around to get Saylor and she was squatting on the grass with her pants down yelling, "I have to go poo poo!" Oh man, that girl kills me. How could I get mad at her? I had just taught her to go on the ground if there were no bathrooms. I grabbed her and put her in the car and drove away as fast as I could because I was so embarrassed.
That night we decided to continue enjoying the weather and have a bonfire outside. This girl couldn't have been happier! Oaks loves being outside so much.
We made tinfoil dinners and roasted smores, it was so yummy!!!
We love Ernie and Chauntelle so much! Oaks always gets really shy around Ernie and won't look at him. I think she has a crush on him.
Saturday morning I got up and ran 20 miles!!! One of the hardest things I've ever done and I will have to go 6 more miles the day of the marathon...aaahhhh!!! I'm actually super excited for it though. After a certain point your legs just go numb haha.
It was rainy so the SAA had the Easter egg hunt in the gym. Ty took time away from his busy day of studying to come see the girls, he is the best dad ever!
Oakley trying to figure out the whole egg finding thing...
Saylor with her candy!
Oaks had fun getting eggs but it still took her awhile to realize there was candy inside. She was more interested in the muffins.
I wasn't very good at getting pictures of Easter morning but the Easter bunny did bring some fun things! Oakley got her own camping chair so she has one like Saylor, the girls got new toothbrushes, new books, bubble bath and chutes and ladders. Oakley was loving having chocolate for breakfast!
Getting a good picture of my girls together is near impossible but I thought we got some cute ones of them in their dresses after church.
We had 3 baby blessings in our ward on Easter and every single time they held up the baby after they were blessed I started crying. It made me remember when my girls were blessed and how thankful I am to have them and be their mom. I am far from perfect and I make so many mistakes but I am so grateful for the atonement and for the chance to become better. I am so thankful for Jesus Christ and I know he lives!
Lisa and I made some super cute Easter cake pops! They were so fun to make! The chicks were my favorite.
So I kind of have this problem...I love to have parties. I am always thinking of the next event or holiday for any kind of reason to throw a party. I love to be around lots of people I love, especially because we are so far away from family and we can't party with them. The problem is I always make a list of the people I want to invite and very quickly the list gets very long. Someday I will have a bigger house and the means to invite everyone I know and it will be awesome! We had a pretty big crowd over on Easter and our house was pretty packed and crazy but I loved it! We had so much delicious, amazing food. It was like Thanksgiving all over again!
Oakley was flipping out waiting for the Easter egg hunt! Haha...she could barely stand it!
It was so fun to be able to hide some eggs in harder places because we had some older kids there.

Hope everyone had a Happy Easter!
